Tanki helps you find cheap fuel. We collect as little data as possible. There are no user accounts, no passwords, and no personal profiles. Here's exactly what we store and why.
What we store on our server
The only personal data on our server is:
Email address + postcode — only if you subscribe to the weekly fuel price digest. Used solely to send you that email. Unsubscribe anytime via the link in every email.
Push notification token — only if you enable price alerts on the native app. Used solely to send you fuel price notifications. Removed automatically when you disable notifications.
That's it. Everything else lives on your device.
What stays on your device
Fuel type, search radius, favourite stations, vehicle profiles, and all other preferences are stored in your device's local storage. This data never leaves your device and we cannot access it.
Data we use but don't store
Location — sent to our server and third-party APIs in real time to find nearby stations. Not stored or logged.
Vehicle registration — sent to the DVLA API for vehicle lookup. Not stored. Discarded immediately after the response.
Third-party services
We use these services to provide Tanki's features. Each receives only the minimum data needed:
GOV.UK Fuel Finder — fuel station prices (receives your coordinates)
Open Charge Map — EV charger data (receives your coordinates)
DVLA — vehicle lookup (receives registration number, not stored)
Mapbox — road distances for Pro users (receives coordinates)
Google AdMob — ads on the free native app (may collect device identifiers)
Google Analytics — anonymised usage analytics
RevenueCat — Pro subscription management (anonymous, tied to Apple/Google account)
Resend — sends the weekly email digest (receives your email)
What we don't do

We don't track you across apps or websites
We don't use first-party cookies
We don't store your location
We don't require an account
Ads
Free users see Google AdMob ads (native app) or Google AdSense ads (web). These services may use device identifiers for ad targeting. Pro subscribers see no ads. You can manage ad preferences at Google Ad Settings.
Delete your data
Want us to delete everything we have? Use the "Delete my data" option in the app, or email [email protected]. We'll remove your email subscription and push notification tokens — that's the only personal data we hold. Your on-device data (favourites, vehicles, preferences) can be cleared in your phone's app settings.
Your rights (UK GDPR)
You can request access to, correction of, or deletion of your data at any time. Email [email protected] and we'll respond within 30 days. You can also complain to the ICO.
Children
Tanki is rated 4+ but is not directed at children. We don't knowingly collect data from anyone under 13.
Changes
We may update this policy. Changes will appear here with an updated date.
